With a focus on network communication automation test solutions and information security technology services, O'Prueba Technology Inc. recently collaborated with NEXCOM, a major Taiwan-based industrial computer manufacturer, to facilitate the testing and validation of NEXCOM's new 5G Gateway DTA1164W.

Based on the international standards of the O-RAN Alliance and 3GPP Release 15, One ORANge was designed as a universal 5G test platform for 5G white-box devices with a virtualized architecture. This time, the team at O'Prueba conducted a variety of 5G application-level verifications for NEXCOM's DTA1164W, ensuring that the device operates efficiently in a private network and verifying that actual operation meets the requirements of 5G transmission performance.

The DTA1164W functioned normally in both SA (standalone) and NSA (non-standalone) environments in the 5G private network setting. The DTA1164W's uplink (UL) speed was proven to be 32 Mbps and downlink (DL) speed up to 498 Mbps. For example, the DL speed allows at least 125 users to stream 1080P HD video and audio simultaneously, in line with the traffic required for 5G applications. Based on the test results, O'Prueba also provided product optimization suggestions to improve device performance in response to changes in the 5G field.

NEXCOM's DTA1164W is designed to meet the huge data traffic on 5G IT networks — such as multiparty video communication for smooth webinars or uninterrupted web video viewing (Netflix or YouTube) — with high performance and flexibility. DTA1164W is expected to be quickly introduced to many 5G terminal operators and equipment vendors in Taiwan and abroad after testing.

According to O'Prueba, providing stable network performance testing and preventive information security verification is key to the development of 5G devices, while quality of user experience (QoE) has an even greater impact on the competitiveness of 5G device manufacturers. Beyond enabling manufacturers to evaluate standards compliance, O'Prueba focuses on the client experience during testing to ensure a device's functionality optimizes the user experience.

On the security side, threats that existed in the past — SMS interception, denial of service, and others — remain present in 5G. The rise of 5G open architecture, while making it easier to procure and upgrade telecom equipment and offering significant business opportunities through the decoupling of hardware, software, and open interfaces, also increases the number of security threats. O'Prueba has mastered the key technologies of the 5G information security standard proposed by 3GPP and built Taiwan's first SCAS information security assurance platform to safeguard 5G infrastructure.

O'Prueba is dedicated to helping 5G equipment manufacturers and 5G mobile network service providers overcome new technical challenges and accelerate the validation of Wi-Fi 6 and Sub-6 GHz 5G technologies. This year, O'Prueba has received inquiries from dozens of major networking companies for the One ORANge automated test solution, and has already received orders from at least five major companies for collaborations on product quality and SCAS information security assurance.

O'Prueba believes that 5G will continue to expand its influence from start-ups all the way up to giant enterprises, driving the development of the 5G market in Taiwan.
